Northern Illinois University - Head Coach, Men's ACHA D2 Hockey

The NIU Men’s Ice Hockey team, located in DeKalb, IL (West Dundee, IL is rink location) is currently looking to fill a coaching position. We are in need of an individual with strong leadership skills, and a passion for ACHA Division 2 hockey.
 
The person’s duties encompass all areas of the Men’s Club Hockey program, but will be focused on the “on-ice product”. Planning practices, games, recruitment, strength and conditioning, and contest management will be the main duties of the coach. However, the right coach should also serve as an advisor and be willing to work with the team support staff on communication with media, team travel, team budget, and other aspects of team promotions and advertising.
 
Effectively managing player activities, as well as monitoring academic progress of team members is imperative. Position requirements include a minimum of playing experience beyond high school with preference given to those with previous coaching experience at upper levels of hockey as well as those with a degree beyond a high school diploma.
 
USA Hockey Level 4 Certification
 
Dates: August 2010 –March 2011
 
# of Hours: 10-14 hrs/week depending upon the competitive schedule
