| Huskies Split With Redbirds |

After coming off there first home weekend of the season, the NIU hockey team split this weekend’s game with Illinois State University. In the first game the Redbirds were able to steam roll over the Huskies 7-1. Huskies lone goal came from Peter Alfano.
In the weekend’s second game the Huskies showed great character in coming back to defeat the Redbirds 4-3, after Friday Nights misfortune. Highlights came from goaltender Brandon Colello, who had 40 saves on 43 shots for a 93 save percentage. Also Mike Strumberger added 2 goals, and Greg Bahnsen scored the game winner for the Huskies in their Saturday win. Freshmen goaltender Kenny Schatz said, “The team as a whole played our best game of the season so far. Brandon Colello played phenomenal in net. The team really developed a lot this weekend.” The Huskies will now be on the road the next three weekends as they will play the University of Iowa, University of Wisconsin, and Robert Morris College-Springfield consecutively. Their next home weekend will be NIU Greek Night on November 7th vs. Missouri State University.
